About Me

I study the way people use information and other resources to perform work. I apply this to the design and evaluation of tools, instructional materials, work processes, and other parts of systems to support how people manage the demands and opportunities of their work.

Current Work

I am completing my PhD in Cognitive Systems Engineering with David Woods at OSU (ABD, expected graduation 2010). The main areas I am investigating are:

• Coordination among stakeholders in health care operations, and the role of information technology;

• Challenges and support methods for dealing with “information overload” (i.e., inadequate structures for exploring and organizing unwieldy volumes of data); and with understanding complex social systems and the intentions of other groups.
